Who: Amy and Song
What: Surprise!
Where: Rainbow's End
When: Wednesday June 6th, morning
Amy paced back and forth in front of the closed bathroom door, sparing a glance at it now and again and scowling. It was nothing. She'd used too much magic fighting, that was all. So she was still feeling worn out. Why shouldn't she? Mabry was off trying to save the world (or at least two small parts of it), she herself was trying to be a mom to an extra kid - and Song - she banished that thought before sighing. She'd made sure Jalen had taken Eli and Ashlyn down to breakfast before she'd gotten started on this. She didn't want him to know...not yet. A quick glance at the clock on the nightstand confirmed it was time, and she took a deep breath before going back into the bathroom. It'd be negative, no big deal, things would go on as they had been...Not that she wouldn't be thrilled, it was just...bad timing.
"When is it ever good timing?" Amy muttered to herself. She bit her lip and picked the stick up from where she'd left it on the counter, stared at it, then dropped it in the sink with a clatter.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?"

Date: 2012-06-06 03:25 am (UTC)Why she was lurking outside Amy and Jalen's bathroom, she chose not to say. (the fact of the matter was that she'd come to talk with Amy about her latest... encounter... with Medrau, but apparently that would have to wait).

She ducked back in long enough to grab the stick and wave it at Song.
"THIS IS NOT A GOOD TIME."
Shock, what?

Date: 2012-06-06 03:32 am (UTC)"Oh."
A pause.
"That's fun."
Somehow, this was said with a completely straight face.

Date: 2012-06-06 03:37 am (UTC)Amy tossed the stick back in the sink before going to drop down on her bed.
"I'm gonna have to make sure Jale's sitting down this time, he might hurt himself otherwise."

Date: 2012-06-06 03:42 am (UTC)"Well, I picked a good day to brood outside your bedroom door." She idly joined Amy on the bed, perching on the edge and twisting half-way around to look at her.
"I wonder what Eli will think."

Date: 2012-06-06 03:49 am (UTC)"'Take it back', I bet you. By the time the baby's actually born, I mean. Right now, I'm not sure."
"Awiergan's gonna be pissed. Not that I care what she thinks. But she likes Eli, and what if she hates this one the way she hates Jalen?"
Yes, that was part of the freaking out.

Date: 2012-06-06 03:56 am (UTC)"Awiergan loves babies. She likes Larkin, even, doesn't she? I'm the one with the dark side who enjoys ripping unborn children out of their mothers' stomachs and turning them into pet Heartless, just for the freak-out factor of it." There was a flash of something like bitterness there, but Song was still far too calm.
"You're just not evil enough," she joked tastelessly. "Even the incarnation of your heart's own darkness can't hurt babies."

Date: 2012-06-06 03:59 am (UTC)"So why were you brooding outside my door?"

Date: 2012-06-06 10:51 am (UTC)"Oh, it's not important. not as important as planning how to tell everyone the news."

Date: 2012-06-06 06:59 pm (UTC)"Naw, I think it is. I'm not planning on telling the others until I've talked to Jale anyway. Even then it'll just be a frantic post of 'Oh my god, guess what you guys?!' We should really be talking about you."
She found herself tugging at her bracelet while she watched Song, and forced herself to stop. She'd have to check on that in a while, too.

Date: 2012-06-06 09:07 pm (UTC)Another tug at the bracelet before her hand drifted down to rest against her stomach. Bad, bad timing.
"Yeah, but you already know what I'm going with. I mean, we've talked about it before."
Yep, this was wrong. Song knew what she was gonna call her next kid. Assuming it was actually a girl, anyway. Amy almost snorted at that. It might be too early to tell, but she herself had no doubt.
"Though I was kinda thinking if it's a boy, maybe Isaiah...but maybe I should let Jale pick."

Date: 2012-06-06 11:53 pm (UTC)Maybe if she stopped trying to get to the bottom of the weirdness, the disturbing feeling this conversation was giving her would go away.
Oh, right. And Awiergan's actually a sparkling fairy.
"Ugh, no. I'd keep picturing that computer geek from Digimon. Maybe just Isa."
Amy shifted a bit against the wall. She kind of wanted to sit down, but at the moment liked the potential safety of the nearby door better. The fact she couldn't get a better grip on what was going on with Song through her vibes was grating on her. Maybe the bracelet was interfering? Though she didn't think it had the first time. Hell, maybe Song's bracelet was the cause of the weirdness. Yay for experimental magic and Darkness Incarnate.

Nostalgia was at least something ordinary for Song. Then again, she might have been putting on such a display specifically for that reason.

Please. She added silently.

Date: 2012-06-07 07:51 pm (UTC)"I beat her."
Of course she would leave a statement like that unexplained, going directly against her passion for exposition and detail.

Date: 2012-06-07 07:58 pm (UTC)But instead of that, what came out was, "You're making me sick."
Not the most polite thing to say, and she didn't mean it in a cruel way, it was literally the truth. Whatever she was sensing from Song, coupled with her strange behavior and just un-Song-ness, was making her stomach turn. The thought had crossed her mind of adjusting her shields more, just closing them, but then she'd be effectively blind, and she didn't want that.
But it doesn't really matter now, does it?
"You can quit acting now."

Date: 2012-06-07 11:41 pm (UTC)It was easy, of course, to guess at what Amy suspected. "Amy, it's me." she waved the bracelet under her friend's nose, sounding hurt. "Seriously. I didn't beat her, beat her, but I... kind of... took the offensive, and she wasn't expecting that. She couldn't defend against it, because of this," another wave of her wrist. "So I just... took back what was mine. Some of it, anyway." She rolled her bottom lip between her teeth, as she always did when she felt uncertain.

Date: 2012-06-08 01:39 am (UTC)You really are an idiot sometimes, Amy.
"Sorry. I'm just- things are messed up, and I don't know which way is up right now."
Amy pushed off from the wall and went back to the bed, dropping down next to Song before throwing an arm around her.
"Sooo, Larkin'll have a playmate close in age, that'll be neat...and poor Ladybug really will be surrounded by girls, watch."
