Who: Jalen, Amy Awiergan, and a sleeping Ladybug
What: Taunting
Where: Rainbow's End
When: After this
"You're not fooling anyone, you realize."
Jalen was leaning against the dresser, scowling at Awiergan's bent head as she typed out a response to Seph. She lifted her gaze and turned to smile at him with Amy's grin, pushing Amy's glasses back up her nose.
"Oh, but I think I am. So what if you and Ray know what's going on? You won't tell out of some misguided sense of protecting your beloved, and it'll take weeks for Ray to have another enchantment forged. Even then..."
She trailed off, shrugging, showing what she thought of that plan. Turning back to the computer, she read over her response, deleted it, and replaced it with something that wasn't so...sappy. Hitting post, she smiled a bit before closing the lid.
Jalen sighed, running a hand through his hair in a frustrated gesture. "Let me talk to her."
Awiergan rolled her eyes. Not this again. "We've been over this. No. And no matter how much you plead, she can't hear you where she is. She's this close," And Awiergan held up finger and thumb, about an inch apart, "to not existing anymore. All there'll be is what you see in front of you, and eventually, I won't need this either."
She laughed at the expression of fury on his face. He was so much fun to play games with; he believed almost anything she told him. Not that that last little bit was a lie.
"Now now Jale, careful or your face might freeze that way. If you'll excuse me, I have things to do." Awiergan rose from the edge of the bed where she'd been sitting and swept past him toward the nursery. A Dark portal materialized in the doorway and she disappeared through it, waving a hand over her shoulder as it closed.
Jalen rushed through the now empty space into the nursery, breathing a sigh of relief when he saw Eli still curled up in his crib, clutching Igor as he dozed. He touched his son's hair gently for a second before moving to drop heavily into the rocking chair. He should tell the others, he knew. But even if he did, what could they possibly do?
