(no subject)

Who: Jalen and Amy
What: Discussing an insane idea someone had while talking to Seph.
Where: Rainbow's End
When: Same day as this.

"No."

"No?"

"Absolutely not."

"Jalen, I can do it-"

"You can get yourself killed when we've just gotten you back!"

Jalen turned away from the window to glare at his wife, who'd decided perching on the dresser was an acceptable thing to do. Amy returned the glare before letting her bare heels kick lightly against the drawers.

"I'll have her glamour pendant. I'll look like her. I'll act like her. I'll figure out what they're up to and report back."

"I'd rather you never look like her again, but you're missing a couple important details. One, you cannot act like her on the level needed to fool them, because you're not a wicked, sadistic bitch. Secondly-" And here he raised a hand to stall her as her mouth opened, "you don't have access to the Corridors or any of her magic."

Amy's mouth snapped shut, and she appeared to be mulling this over as her heels began to kick against the wood a little harder. They slowed as she sighed, and Jalen began to relax. She was getting it now, finally.

"I could take the bracelet off."

That had been the last thing he'd been expecting her to say, and it took real effort to keep his jaw from dropping. Amy was watching him calmly, absolutely still now. Neither spoke for several seconds, then she smiled sadly, shaking her head.

"But I won't. I can't trust myself to be able to fight her off right now. I'd end up right back where I was or worse, and you'd all suffer..."

Jalen crossed the room to stand in front of her, reaching up to run his fingers through her hair.

"We'll find another way. There's time yet."

Amy nodded, closing her eyes as she leaned into his touch.

There was time.
